PEOPLE ARE EQUAL | PERSONAL PROJECT
Google's auto-complete feature gives suggestions based on the most frequently performed searches. It’s curious to find out that, when we search for any nationality on it, most of the results is hatred and prejudices. Based on this, me and Linus Oura developed the project People Are Equal, that confronts the global opinion of each country to a real person of the same nationality. The site already has more than 60 pictures published by photographers from countries like Brazil, USA, South Korea, Poland, and Russia.
In July 2016, the project was published
at the digital magazine UOL TAB,
in a edition about how big data
ends up helping to spread hatred and prejudice.
Few months ago, Google started to block
offensive responses at its auto-complete search.
Actually, most of the results aren't available anymore.
